Kristoffer To's Trio received its World Première at Église Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur, La Bolline, Valdeblore in France at the ‘Zodiac Music Academy & Festival’ Aprè-midi Musicale on 14 July 2015 by Callie Brennan, Zachariah Reff and Marielle Le Monnier.
'Nonsense' in music shows that there is no order, no theory, no meaning. 'Chaos', however, is a state of total confusion with a sense of structure. This piece builds on and develops around this idea. Technially, Trio explores the different possibilities of glissando playing. Each of the three instruments shows unique sound right from the very opening. Gradually they echo and response to each other, and towards the end they fight for authority. The authority soon appears to be creating chaos in music.
